Our Curriculum
At Le Petit Prince we follow a balanced curriculum with a wide range of academic and other activities.
Small Classes
Children are grouped by age into classes of no more than 12 children, with children from both mother-tongue backgrounds mixed together. Each class has a teacher and an assistant. Whatever your child needs next, whether a new challenge or a patient explanation, there will be someone there to notice and to help.
All our staff are qualified and bilingual, so your child will always be understood and able to communicate.
Equal Priority to Both Languages
For half the day, the class will be led by a native English speaking teacher and assistant, and for the other half, by a native French speaking teacher and assistant.
Both languages are given equal priority, so that children’s language skills broaden and grow. The timetable is planned so that subjects are taught in both languages during the course of a single week. For example, maths may be taught in English on a Tuesday and in French on Friday.
English and French National Frameworks
We follow both the English and French national curriculum frameworks. These cover the full range of educational and developmental needs from nursery age onwards:
- Personal, social and emotional development
- Communication, language and literacy
- Maths
- Science
- Knowledge and understanding of the world
- Physical development
- Creative development (including music, art, and drama)
Beyond the Basics
In addition to being given a solid academic grounding, children at Le Petit Prince benefit from a wide range of broader educational experiences. Find out about our drama, music, art, cookery, PE and more. –
Nursery
We provide a rich and stimulating environment in which children learn through play. Our carefully structured programmes ensure your child is covering all the key developmental areas, has time for independent play, and, most importantly, can progress at their own pace. We also make good use of the nearby park. The children get the chance to run around in the fresh air, improving both their physical fitness and their ability to concentrate once they get on to the next activity.

As children gradually start their formal education, our teachers carefully integrate learning new academic skills with play and creative activities Reading, writing and numeracy are introduced at a pace to suit the child – and there’s still plenty of time to run around in the park.
